Shatters Previous Year’s Fundraising Totals (Boston, MA – May 3, 2007) Vince Wilfork’s 4th Annual Draft Day Fundraiser, Presented in Part by FSN New England, WBCN Patriots Rock Radio Network, TD Banknorth and Mitsubishi Motors, was held on NFL Draft Day, Saturday, April 28th at PiNZ in Milford, MA. As in past years, the event was a tremendous hit throughout New England and the Eastern Seaboard as fans traveled from the New England states and the New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington areas to support Vince in his fundraising efforts. Once again, all proceeds were donated to the Diabetes Research Institute, an organization affiliated with the University of Miami School of Medicine that seeks “to develop and rapidly apply the most promising research to treat and cure those now living with diabetes.” Vince and his family are passionately committed to eradicating this disease that claimed his father when he was in college. Festivities kicked off with Vince personally greeting those fans lining up outside, waiting for the doors to open to claim their seats and tables for the event. The fans were not disappointed as the PiNZ facilities were a draft lover’s dream featuring three gigantic projection screens above its twenty bowling lanes, smaller televisions at each lane table, and over a dozen flat screen televisions in the Blue Dog Sports Bar and Grille. To add to the excitement, former Patriots’ draft picks Ty Warren, Kevin Faulk, and Matt Light dropped by to say hello, mingle with fans, and sign autographs. Throughout draft day, guests were treated with frequent announcements, jokes, and draft commentary from Fox Sport New England’s Greg Dickerson and WBCN Patriots Rock Radio Network Pre & Post Game host, Gary Tanguay. Vince also provided commentary on the Patriots’ draft picks, giving the fans an NFLers perspective on the day. Fans were also given the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items, participate in a PBA sponsored bowling tournament, and for the second straight year, a Madden Tournament sponsored by Audio Video Intelligence. The bowling tournament awarded the most lucrative prize, a brand new 2007 Jeep Wrangler to whoever bowled a perfect game. Unfortunately, that prize went unclaimed. No one, however, went away unhappy as Vince handed out autographed bowling and football jerseys, photos, copies of the always popular Madden game, discount vouchers, and to the bowling tournament’s high scorer, an autographed bowling ball. After the Patriots chose fellow Hurricane Brandon Meriweather as their first-round pick, Vince and Greg Dickerson took the stage for the live auction. Up for bid were a round of golf with Vince, Tom Brady game-worn autographed cleats, and FSN corporate tickets to all New England sporting events. In an exciting, funny, and loose interpretation of a live auction, complete with banter from Vince and his whole family, the live auction was a huge hit and raised over $10,000.00. This year’s fundraiser surpassed previous year’s contributions and expectations. With approximately 700 people in attendance, the total donation to DRI exceeded $40,000.00. Stated Vince and Bianca Wilfork, "This year’s draft day party was the best one we have had so far. Not only did we increase our fundraising amount to over $40,000, but we were able to secure the official home of the Draft Day Party at PiNZ. We think the location of this year’s event was the turning point for our annual event. The location was ideal and allowed us to have people from all over join us. Diabetes is a disease that everyone should take seriously. We’re glad that we’re able to do this every year and we look forward to doubling the amount raised next year.” David Breen, President of PiNZ Entertainment says, “What a great charity event for the Diabetes Research Institute. Vince and Bianca Wilfork are wonderful people, and I applaud their enthusiasm and generosity. I look forward to hosting next year’s 5th annual NFL draft party at PiNZ”.
